KIKU|喜久: Reviews & Ratings
KIKU is by far the greatest addition to Brisbane’s restaurant scene It has quickly become one of the places I can rely on to always provide wonderful food and service, and I always enjoy the time I spend there. The menu is extensive but approachable, with a well balanced variety between meat and seafood, as well as a lovely array of different flavoured High Ball drinks My favourites are the Strawberry and Gari Sours The presentation and quality of all the dishes are immaculate. You can never go wrong with the charcoal grilled yakitori - which is probably the best I’ve had in Brisbane - but other must-haves include the Hotate Scallop Lemon Carpaccio, the Wagyu Tataki, and the sushi boat I always leave with a satisfied belly but never feeling like it cost me an arm and a leg! It’s super rare to find gems like these, I highly recommend any Japanese cuisine-lover to dine here
Ladies and gentlemen, trust me on this one. Hi quality, proper Japanese food cooked by Japanese master chef. I would love to pay more for this quality. I think it’s the best in Brisbane.
Stumbled across Kiku when we were trying to find a place for dinner. Decided to give it a go as they had one of my fav Japanese dish on their menu. They have a variety of Ochazuke (one of my fav )! I ordered the Salmon ochazuke, the broth was flavourful but not too strong and pairing it with the grilled salmon and the crispy rice.. it was just spectacularThey also had a range of sushi/sashimi, yakitori and grilled menu items. Definitely gives a modern and chill izakaya vibes. Not to mention that the staffs were super nice and friendly!
Best Japanese yakitori I’ve had in Brisbane – the chef is incredibly skilled, and every dish was cooked perfectly. I’ll be back for the yakitori and prawn ochazuke. Service, however, needs improvement. Seating, menus, ordering, and food all took a long time, I went to the restaurant at 7:00 and waited until 7:50 to get my first meal in. and if you don’t order drinks, glassware is swapped for paper cups, which feels awkward. Prices are on the higher side, but the service and in-restaurant atmosphere aren’t quite at fine dining level yet.
It is super hard to find gluten free quality Japanese food but Kiku manages to deliver. We went not long after it opened & while there were still a few kinks to work out the staff were helpful, knowledgeable & the food was incredible. We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu & everything was delicious. We had the addictive cabbage - I could have eaten the entire plate to myself! Oysters were fresh & delicious, as was the scallop dish. The wagyu tataki was the best thing I have eaten in a good while, if you dine here you have to try this dish! Karaage chicken was piping hot & crispy - every single dish we tried was phenomenal. We will definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu!
Our family is completely obsessed with this place! You can really feel the love they put into every dish. Everything is so fresh and so well made, you can tell they choose the best ingredients and care about every little detail. We super recommend it and we’ll definitely keep coming back to this authentic Place
Enjoyed the sashimi with its extensive variety and everything tasted so fresh. The unagi ochazuke was very flavoursome with a lovely chargrilled flavour to the rice, yum. Also had a selection of yakitori that went down a treat but the Wagyu was definitely my favourite. Finished with the matcha tiramisu that was rich and not too sweet, and the black sesame pudding which was delightfully wobbly. Of course, can't go wrong with warm sake on a cold winter night either. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to visit again and check out the rest of the menu!
i love this place! the owner is incredibly nice and patient and all the food is so well made. the skewers and grilled dishes are perfectly cooked. there are always specials and even though it is on the pricier side, it’s definitely worth the money. reservations are recommended because it’s popular!
